Inkshed Conference Update: Online Registration, General Information, Party!

Online registration and fees payment for the 2012 Inkshed conference (May 29 and 30) is now available at this web address:

This is the secure online membership payment site for CASDW, whose Executive has kindly agreed to allow Inkshed’s conference registration to be done through their site, sparing CASLL the expense of setting up a separate site.

To register, click on “Inkshed conference registration” as your “Type of Application” at the top of the form, fill in the various information fields, and then select either “$150 Inkshed conference regular” or “$75 Inkshed conference student/retired/unsalaried” for your “Membership Type.”  Payment can be made using American Express, DiscoverCard, MasterCard, or Visa.  The system will generate a receipt for you as well as emailing your registration details to the organizing committee.

Please note that you cannot pay CASLL membership fees through the CASDW site!  The other payment options on the site are only for CASDW purposes.  At the Inkshed AGM we should probably discuss whether CASLL should have an online payment site of its own, for both membership fees and future conference registrations…

Conference Venue and Accommodation Information:

Inkshed 2012’s sessions will take place in recently renovated meeting space at the Multifaith Centre, Koffler House, 569 Spadina Avenue, on the St. George campus of the University of Toronto.

Short-term accommodation is available on-campus at several U of T residences, at prices ranging from $19.50 to $60 per night for single rooms, $14.25 to $82 per night for doubles.  Some residences offer special rates for stays of three nights or more, if you’re thinking of spending more time in Toronto.  For more information and contacts, see

There are a great many hotels in downtown Toronto, but three are very close to the campus: the Intercontinental Yorkville at 220 Bloor Street W, the Holiday Inn Bloor-Yorkville at 280 Bloor Street W, and (for those who like their accommodations a bit flossier) the Park Hyatt at 4 Avenue Road.  Here are their web addresses:

A few last-minute points about conference events:

Along with coffee and juice, there will be lots of breakfast goodies each morning, including yogurt and fruit, available from around 8:30 on; do please come early!

On Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 PM we’ll be having a catered event in Kruger Hall at Woodsworth College, both as a kind of Inkshed party and to celebrate the career of our colleague Margaret Procter, who retires at the end of June.  There will be ample finger food and nibblies, to help us all deal with the hunger brought on by a long day of conferencing, plus a cash bar.  (NB, please don’t feel you shouldn’t come if you don’t know Margaret; everyone coming to Inkshed will be welcome!)
